I agree. Its kind of like him felling sorry for what he has to do. He also is also thankful because kee sup let him fly the kite.

Double Bee

I'm going to change the topic. I think that Young-sup is being nice to his brother not just because he is thankful to his brother but also that Young-sup is proud who he is and realizes how hard it is to be the older brother.

Queen Bee

Do you notice your book conversation is focusing only on the plot?  It's time to do BIG thinking about the deep stuff in the story!

droid bee

I agree with Pizza Bee that Kee-sup and that his father was becoming a little bit kinder to young-sup when the crowd was cheering for Hee-nam. Also I think this made young-sup feel a little bit better.

Korean bee

I agree with Pizza Bee that Kee-sup and his father was the only ones cheering for Young-sup but then other people started to cheer for him.

Pizza Bee

I think Young-sup's dad became a little more kind because he gave Young-sup one more chance. I also think he got kinder because he and Kee-sup were the only people to cheer for Young-sup because everyone else cheered for Hee-nam.

Droid Bee

Like korean bee said young sup's dad gave the money to the kid because kee sup wanted to not to help young sup. I would've been even more angry

than young sup (he has the right to be angry).

Clown bee

I think the dad is actually happy to give young sup a chance for once because its always kee sup do this and do that

coolbee

I think that Young-Sup doesn't understand that it is a tradition that the oldest son represents the family.  It is a family tradition and Kee-Sup can not change that if he is the chosen one.

Korean bee

I think that Kee-sups reaction was that he felt sorry for Young-sup but also I read in that chapter that Kee-sup asked hid dad to give the money to the little kid when Kee-sup wanted a kite on the day Young-sup made the deal.

Queen Bee

BUT, didn't you read the part where Kee-Sup asks his father if Young-Sup can fly the kite instead?  And his dad agreed!  So our guesses about how angry the father would be were not true.  I think it is way more important to talk about the relationship between the brothers - that is the main point of this chunk!  Young-Sup finally loses his temper and tells Kee-Sup exactly how angry he is and how unfair this whole "older brother" thing is!  What did you think of Kee-Sup's reaction to that outburst?

clown bee

I agree with double bee on every thing because if their dad found out the it was young-sup flying the kite he would be mad because he is so used to the tradition because he has lived longer so if someone breaks the tradition its liked being annoyed like the king is annoyed by people calling him sire .I also agree with that if the dad finds out they are friends and they dot call him sire and stuff he could punish them.

Double Bee

I'm going to change the topic since we are on different chapters now. I think that Kee-sup and Young-sup told their dad that Young-sup is going to fly a kite for the king, but they didn't tell about the friendship with the king because if their father found out ho the where talking to the king then their father would punish them bad. Also, now that their father knows that Young-sup is flying the kite instead of Kee-sup their dad is very mad am I'm thinking that if Young-sup doesn't ask the king if Kee-sup can fly the kite instead of Young-sup then their father would punish Young-sup. Their father wants Kee-sup to fly the kite instead of Young-sup because of the tradition and their father is probably thinking that if the king says that Young-sup is still flying the kite at the festival then their father would think that the king is breaking a tradition which would be disrespectful to the people of the country.

Coolbee

It also seems he needs a real, regular friendship, not servants who aren't really a true friend.

Double Bee

I also agree with Queen Bee because he can't act like a normal kid and he can't do as many things that a normal kid would do. ( I wrote the same thing on my half sheet today )

clown bee

I agree with Queen Bee because if you are lonely with no parents you kind of are desperate for a friend because his dad died and he has no one to do stuff with.

Queen Bee

Wow!  You guys are having a great book conversation!

I agree with Droid Bee.  I think the king is very, very lonely!  Not just because his dad died, but because he is kept away from everyone and people don't treat him like a regular kid.  I can't imagine how someone could actually forget how to talk normally!  That is crazy!

Droid Bee

I agree  to Pizza Bee it would feel kind of weird being called "Your Highness" every time in the day ,but Double bee I disagree with you about the king being nicer because of the kite. I think he's being nicer because he wants a friend to talk to like they usually not like his friend is a kid and he is an adult if you know what I mean, but I agree that the king is trying to be nice to them. Also Clown Bee, the king'sfather died not his mother.

Clown bee

I agree with double bee and pizza bee   because hes being nice on purpose because they are the ones making the kite and since the kings mom died he has nobody to do stuff with so he might want a friend or something

Pizza Bee

I am not sure I agree to Double Bee 100% because the king might just be lonely being the "high person" and he might want to make friends and play with them instead of someone your age calling you "Your Highness" or something. He might want someone like a brother, someone to play with.

Double Bee

I mean that the king would be a little nicer to them but not to other people. The king is probably being nicer to them because Kee-sup and Young-sup made the kite. I think the way the king is showing that he likes the gift is that he is "commanding" Kee-sup and Young-sup and to treat the king as a brother. Also, I agree that he's not yelling at them give me the kite but he still is asking about the kite when the king asked Young-sup "Where is my kite?"

clown bee

I dont really get what you are saying when you say the king wants them to feel ''royal''. But I agree with he is trying to be nice because he isn't like yelling at them ''GIVE ME THE KITE NOW''! because he wants to let them know they have time to make the kite

Double Bee

I think that the king is wanting Kee-sup and Young-sup to be "royal". When I say "royal" I mean that i think that the king is trying to be nice to them because of the gift for the king. I also think that the king is not trying to be "overpowered" and be a strict after what Kee-sup and Young-sup made the kite for him. the king even said that the kite was wonder and was better that he ever expected on page 63.
